Nardwuar, minus the oddity?
About 99% of interviews with musicians are the same. What are you working on? How are things? Say something to the fans.
Then there’s the one percent. Nardwuar does it with intense research and a combination of humour and quirk. New podcast Inside the Studio is trying to be the other side of that coin. No less personal, but much more serious.
The first episode is with Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda, and it dives deep into the musician’s personal feelings and experience with the death of Chester Bennington, the future of the band without him, and Shinoda’s new solo effort. Those are all things you might hear about in any interview with Shinoda these days, but this podcast really digs into the next layer of it.
We’re not sure what musicians are coming next, but if all episodes provide this degree of openness, this is going to be a great series.
