Last fall, we shared the podcast Dirty John, which told the story of a con man posing as a doctor, lying his way into a family and tearing it apart from the inside. Wondery, the company behind that podcast, is back with the story of another con man who left chaos in his wake. This time, however, he was an actual doctor, and his destruction was wrought from inside hospitals, in plain sight.

This is the story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch. This is the story of Dr. Death.

Do you get easily queasy? Don’t like to hear about blood, gore, or pain? Close this email, and we’ll see you next week.

Duntsch was a butcher. Without giving away too much, the descriptions of his surgeries by actually qualified physicians will make your stomach lurch. The patients were almost always left worse off than they started… if they were left alive at all.

Yes, this is a true crime podcast, but it’s more than that. It dives into the flawed American medical system that allowed this to happen; a system that allows a clearly unqualified surgeon to work at no less than four hospitals in Dallas, with the trail of blood following him the entire way.

Have a listen and let us know what you think,
