When it comes to true crime, there are a long line of podcasts that have honed in on unbelievable murders, sharing these stories through interviews with families, police, and near-victims. But has there ever before been a podcast that relied on the actual murderer to tell the tale?

Audioboom’s new podcast Dead Man Talking relies on a taped interview with serial killer Angel Resendiz to drive its story forward, and it makes for audio that is both chilling and fascinating.

Resendiz, known as The Railroad Killer, murdered 15 people he chose at random while riding freight trains around the US. Or, at least, they’ve attributed 15 deaths to him. But in the very first episode of this podcast, you hear the killer himself confess to another murder that the authorities pinned onto someone else.

So begins the podcast’s quest to find the truth about whether the Railroad Killer, who has since been killed by lethal injection, actually committed more crimes, or whether he was lying for attention until the very end.

Have a listen and let us know what you think,
