How did you survive Y2K?
Admit it… at 11:59 p.m., on December 31, 1999, you felt a twinge of fear that the world was about to fall apart.
It’s not your fault. There was so much hype and hysteria around what would happen when the year went from 99 to 00. Would all the computers stop working? Would missiles get fired without anyone telling them to? Would the planet descend into chaos?
We all know that none of that happened, and none of the fear was really warranted, but that doesn’t make it any less interesting to look back on the phenomenon of Y2K.
From apocalypse preppers to coders to the general public, everyone has a story to tell. Those stories are the focus of Headlong: Surviving Y2K, by Dan Taberski.
Taberski rose to podcast fame with the huge success of Missing Richard Simmons, so you can be sure expectations are high for this follow up. Two episodes in, and we can say, so far so good.
