[Podcast] Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend
Zero.
That’s how many friends Conan O’Brien says he has made in 25 years of doing interviews on Late Night. No guests have hung around after the show to grab a beer. No celebs are inviting him to their Christmas parties. No musician has named him the godfather to their newborn.
Conan wants a real, lasting friendship with someone he interviews, and and this new podcast is a way for him to do just that.
Listen, we don’t know how much of this is shtick or genuine. In all likelihood, he’s just jumping on the podcast train so many other celebrities are already riding. But that doesn’t change the fact that Will Ferrell is his first guest, or that he’s going to be having a chat with funny power couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally, or that he’ll have a special New Year’s episode with the podcasting icon Marc Maron.
At the end of the day, regardless of whether Conan manages to find himself a friend, we get 36 episodes of comedians and actors talking shop. Sit back, have a laugh, and let us know what you think.
