[Podcast] An Unsolved Plane Crash… in Canada?
Earlier this year, the folks at CBC won us over with Uncover: Escaping NXIVM. The podcast was surprising and compelling — which is why we added it to our list of the best podcasts of 2018.
Rather than rest on that success, Uncover is already back with a second season, this time investigating a largely under-recognized Canadian disaster: the explosion of Canadian Pacific Flight 21 in 1965. Fifty-two people lost their lives when the plane exploded mid-air and crashed in the woods of British Columbia’s interior, but in the over 50 years since, no charges were ever laid.
The fact that one of the largest murders ever on Canadian soil has gone unsolved is surprising enough; but perhaps more shocking is how little discussion this event gets across the country. Hosts and journalists Ian Hanomansing and Johanna Wagstaffe have set out to change that.
While the chances of them solving such an old, complex case is slim to none, the stories they uncover from the families of the victims, investigators, and people who lived near the crash site are captivating.Have a listen and let us know what you think.
