[Podcast] Is Tom Hanks Not All He’s Cracked Up to Be?
Tom Hanks is the poster boy of kindness. The one celebrity you know will just never disappoint you. If we survive this Coronavirus it will be in part because people started taking it seriously once Tom got sick.But for actor Connor Ratliff, the name Hanks leaves a bad taste in his mouth. In the year 2000, Ratliff had earned a small role on the HBO series Band of Brothers. That is, until Hanks got him fired, apparently for having “dead eyes.” That’s his story at least. Now he’s using a podcast to prove it.
These aren't the depressed ravings of a has-been. Ratliff brings some friends along to cast doubt on his memories, including Jon Hamm (Mad Men), D'Arcy Carden (The Good Place, Barry), and Zach Woods (Silicon Valley, The Office). He even interviews the actor that replaced him on BoB.Overall, thanks to some fantastic editing and even better storytelling, it’s a way more compelling listen than it should be.
