The racial segregation of American schools saw a sharp decline in the 60s and 70s. Certain history books might say it ended altogether. But those on the ground know that some legacies are not so easily erased.A new podcast from the Serial team dives into the case of one New York City public school that traditionally served People of Color. One day, a flood of white parents began enrolling their children. What looked on the surface like an act of desegregation was more of a take-over. The school’s identity suddenly changed, and the privileges afforded by new funding and new opportunities only landed in the laps of the school’s white students. The circle of racial disparity continues.

Look, we’re podcast lovers. That means, if anyone associated with Serial puts out a new show, it jumps to the top of the listen list. While this story might not have the same mystery or suspense of previous Serial outputs, it’s an important, timely story and once that is, as expected, incredibly produced. Have a listen and let us know what you think.
