Absentee ballots.

Chances are you've come to know a lot more about absentee ballots in the last year or so. That applies whether you're from the good ol' U.S. of A. or not.

In the off chance that you're not well-versed in the nuances of the American electoral process, *The Improvement Association* will be your crash course into how parts of it work; with Bladen County, N.C. front and center.

The Improvement Association is responsible for the tactics that mobilized voters around absentee ballots well before it was relevant on the American national stage. In small-town North Carolina, it became THE maneuver that empowered Black voters to level the political playing field and reclaim representation in the name of community, small and large.

Then, their opponents stole that tactic, juiced it up with election fraud, and fought tooth-and-nail to drag the Improvement Association through the mud.

Even if you're not all that familiar with politics in America, you know that marginalized communities have a hard time getting to the polls, let alone getting the results they'd like to see when elections are called.
