Life Jolt is here to share the sobering journeys of women as they navigate the modern correctional system – starting with the crimes they committed, their loss of common freedoms and the long periods of reflection while in lock-up.

Host Rosemary Green brings her first-hand experiences to the forefront after her 5-year stint in the US penal system and elevates the voices of other women who have done the same. She takes us inside Grand Valley Institution for Women, a federal penitentiary in Kitchener, Ontario.

Each of these women has gone through an arrest and sentencing for the first time, inevitably learning the ropes of life in prison and coming to real terms with the crimes they've committed. And, once the time is served, the distress of reintegration.

Participating in this podcast also lets these women voice the successes they've had since being incarcerated, letting them make an effort to pay it forward so others can avoid similar fates.

It's easy to assume that life ends when you enter prison. Life Jolt proves that lives can still flourish despite being imprisoned.
