For nearly a decade an arsonist terrorized Southern California, oftentimes lighting fires at businesses in broad daylight. The arsonist didn't stop there. He evolved to start brushfires, ignite vehicles, and set fire to anything that burns incredibly well.

Investigators pay special attention to arsonists since they're a unique type of criminal – in many cases, they stick around to watch the fire they set, spread, and in the best-case scenario, get put out. In some cases, they're aroused by the fires they set which really adds to the intimate relationship arsonists have with fire.

This podcast is ablaze with details that are guaranteed to shock you. The interviews and conversations that makeup Firebug are usually a degree or two away from the heart of each fire.

Firebug host Kary Antholis takes us through a journey from point-of-origin of the first fires through to the apprehension of the man known to the FBI as the worst American serial arsonists of the 20th century. After 30 years of following the story, there's really no one better suited to guide us through the flames.
