We're firm believers that you never know when you just might need to rely on potentially obscure, quick and dirty tips. This isn't a matter of adding more random facts to your repertoire so you can impress someone at your next dinner party, we're talking about learning something new because you dared to let yourself daydream and be curious. Enter: Doug Fraser. He's here to interview renowned experts and artists to cover the things you didn't know you needed to know.

Things like whether it's theoretically possible to domesticate a Tyrannosaurus Rex? (Spoiler: It is and two T-Rex would need an environment the size of Washington, DC to roam comfortably.) What sort of imprint do our childhoods leave on us as we enter adulthood and do the stories we tell ourselves and others really stack up to, well, reality?

There's nothing complicated with this podcast or its premise so if a no-frills info session is what you're looking for, you'll benefit from giving this a listen. Fraser does one thing well – he frames each episodes' topic like it's meant for a 5-year-old but steers clear of being overly reductive or patronizing. He keeps things light and fun, and broadly educational.

We'd argue that this is the ideal gateway podcast for the friends or family members who have yet to be hooked by a podcast you've undoubtedly recommended they listen to. It's sort of like a nice, light snack for your ears.

At the end of the day, you can rely on Curious State to uncover the unexpected gems of knowledge that are hidden all around us. After one listen you'll realize that it's worth carving out some space in your listening feed for the reliable, quick hits of knowledge on a range of topics and interests. This is a simple way to stay curious and seek out something you might not have known yesterday.
