#213 The Problems You Need to Hear About

A multi-format return to comedy-hybrid show that digs into real issue

Jon Stewart signed off from "The Daily Show" for the last time on August 6, 2015. Some consider him to have re-defined the late-night news satire genre while laying the groundwork for a generation of satirical entertainers.

Throughout his career, Stewart has never shied away from publically criticizing the failures of government administrations around the world, highlighting the absurdity of news pundits, or advocating for military veterans and first responders who haven't had the voice to do so for themselves; and that's the focus of the first episode of The Problem with Jon Stewart.

What we know — and what you've come to expect from anything with Jon Stewart's name on it — is that each episode of The Problem will cover a complex and important issue worth learning more about. What you may not anticipate is the two-pronged approach to sharing these important topics: a podcast and a TV show.

Each podcast episode delivers an in-depth conversation with people who either know a lot about the topic at hand or who have been greatly affected by something worth talking about. The corresponding TV show rounds that out with the classic format of a late-night talk show.

Scattered through both the podcast and the TV show are related segments that get a range of reactions. Everything from an awkward chuckle to a hearty laugh. Whether you’re in it for the laughs or the facts, you’re certain to find a new way to wrap your head around something worth your time.

Have a listen and let us know what you think.
