#256: Open This to Get Into It

The easiest way to get into it starts here.

We're entering uncharted territory here.

Bare with us.

Three days removed from Beyoncé's latest album dropping, it's safe to say that by all measures imaginable, RENAISSANCE is the sleek, sultry, and swaggy summer anthem-factory we all expected it to be.

While this album serves as a perfect backdrop for *ahem* your own personal "summer renaissance" *wink*, it also serves as a gateway into pop culture's not-too-distant past; specifically to 2013 for Beyoncé's mammoth of a record drop with BEYONCÉ.

With that, there is plenty of fodder for the debut episode of Sam Sanders' Into It – the show all about the pop culture we just cannot stop thinking about, the stuff we obsess over, and the stuff we are into.

Sanders has a remarkable ability to subtly tease out the currents of pop culture without making it difficult to digest. Even if you strive to avoid the depths and the shallows of pop culture, you get to listen to Sanders and the Vulture staff get their jabs in with a segment dedicated to outright judging as many aspects of pop culture as possible.

And since there's no single version of pop culture out there, you also get a glimpse into the frays of other people's versions of pop culture with Culturegeist, a call-in segment where we hear people's sticky thoughts related to pop culture of today and of days past.

We know that this may not be everyone's cup of tea but there's definitely an in for even the most die-hard anti-pop culture heads out there. After all, how do you know if you're into it without giving "it" a try?

Have a listen and let us know what you think.
