📥 Listen! It’s good for you!

Like you, I listen to hours and hours of podcasts every day. There are podcasts for my morning routine and podcasts for my nightly dog walks. There are specific podcasts for long road trips or for meal prepping and even podcasts to replace the odd moments of silence that have grown all-too unnatural

For many people podcasts are a form of easy listening. Some may set aside time to listen to their favorite shows while others take things in more passively as they do something else.

There’s no right or wrong way to listen, but Listening will challenge you rethink your modelled patterns of listening; just like it challenges the notion of what a podcast can be.

If you’re interested in finding more opportunity to listen with intention, this concept-album-as-a-podcast is for you.

On Listening, you’re eased into a simple premise worth being reminded about – everyone listens differently, through their own unique perspectives, largely informed by their lived experiences.

10 episodes act as your aural signposts with host Elia Einhorn guiding listeners to take in the creative process. Different musicians discuss what went into a new composition (all created specifically for the podcast) and everything flows into a near-meditative state to prompt a little thoughtful consumption.

Jeff, Spencer and Sammy Tweedy, Katie Crutchfield of Waxahatchee, Mdou Moctar, Neko Case, Laraaji, JLIN, Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt, Vagabon, MC Taylor of Hiss Golden Messenger, and Björk all lend a track to the project along with their experiences with listening – to music and in general.

Every episode deconstructs what could be considered a contorted, cacophonic canvas at first listen. Most tracks are on the ambient/field recording side of the auditory spectrum but even if that’s not your musical jam you’ll want to listen through to understand the story behind it.

Have an intentful listen and let us know what you think.
