#274: So, What Future Tribe Are You On?
A glimpse into the pre-historic tribal civilization of the future.
The 27th United Nations Climate Change conference, better known as COP27, officially wrapped up on November 18th. In the weeks that followed, global leaders continued talks aimed at lessening the impacts of climate change and at reversing the trends of global warming.
I’m not saying those efforts are fruitless or anything, but the fact that the whole conference was sponsored by Coca-Cola, the world’s largest plastic polluter, suggests there is a lot to figure out before we begin to actively reconcile and reverse some of the effects we have on this planet.
So, yeah.
If you’re the type of person who suspects we may be doomed to a future of dystopian tribalism, Birds of Empire is exactly what you need to get immersed in.
This vibrant and enchanting listening experience articulates a future marked by the fall of civilization in 2222 CE and as you look around, it’s not hard to think that something like that isn’t completely out of the realm of possibilities for us.
There is undoubtedly a ways we have to go before we find ourselves in our own version of the Black Hills of North Dakota, circa 15,000 CE. You can imagine the world-building needed to get a story on that timescale. We’re talking enthralling and in-depth detail on the same level as J. R. R. Tolkien and George R. R. Martin, but this time it’s all delivered with your ears in mind.
And if you're an audiophile looking to indulge you're in luck. QCODE continues its reign as the immersive audio heavy hitter. They crank the experience up by mixing each episode in spatial audio with Dolby ATMOS – something pretty damn cool for those with the right gear.
So tune in to be treated to season one of this multi-season podcast and dive into the lore and the history of four tribes: The Bears, The Rams, The Birds, and The Wolves. These tribes all strive to become the first empire of the new world, all across the first eight episodes known as Book 1- The Dawn Age.
Have a listen and share what you think.
