#284: Would You Take This Deal?

If your morning routine involves listening to the latest news podcasts then you’ve likely been inundated with hot takes and headlines about how Microsoft’s deal with OpenAI has Google shaking in its boots. You’ve also probably caught wind that it has potential to shift the bedrock of an industry and that it could maybe even alter the course of the global economy.

It’s still somewhat hard to believe that Google has reason to fear losing its pole position in all things search, but founder Sergey Brin has rolled up his sleeves and returned to the front-ish lines of work at Google under “code red” circumstances.

Whatever that means, there’s something important to be gleaned from the business moves we’re seeing take shape: we’re more than likely in the midst of a turning point that will all be traced back to closed-door deals that were meticulously drawn up and negotiated ad nauseam.

These types of deals are exactly what The Closer is here to dissect for us and while the Microsoft-OpenAI deal may not be on its docket yet, there are plenty of industry-upheaving business deals for us to take in.
